@frumble @arstechnica So basically Google paid for it through the search deal ;)

@arstechnica I loved Silo and Foundation, none of the rest reached that level.

@plastichymn @arstechnica For All Mankind, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Time Bandits

@camerageek @plastichymn @arstechnica
Masters of the Air completed the trilogy started with Band of Brothers

@arstechnica so long as they keep on making Slow Horses, I’m happy. Almost everything else has been rubbish

@arstechnica Slow Horses is a great show. I enjoyed Apples Never Fall also. And Severance!! Really great storytelling.

@arstechnica well I watch Apple TV+ all the time. Slow Horses, Severance, Foundation, Criminal Record, Calls, Silo, Hijack, Snoopy… the list goes on. Great content.

@arstechnica I’m paying for the opportunity- the issue for me is having Time to watch.

A larger problem is very few streaming platforms are monolithic enough in their catalog to make subscribing to all worthwhile, forcing those with content to rent exclusivity to their competitors for income. Which means no streamer will have an always available dependable catalog.

@arstechnica There's a certain segment of the population who will buy Macs, and the rest are happy with their Windows (or Linux) boxes. It has ever been thus, and so it is with Apple TV+, I imagine.

I have Apple TV+, I like some of the stuff on it, and other bits I can live without. Overall, the production quality of shows is excellent. And there are no ads, which alone is worth the price of admission.

@mtconleyuk @arstechnica let's not forget Apple's stubborn insistence to keep Chromecast from being an option.... All the ways to watch except that. Really.

@krupo @arstechnica Well, frankly, anything that hurts Google is fine by me.

@arstechnica when I had apple tv I felt like there was not much of content for me, so it didn't take long to see everything and then it was a long wait for something of value, so apple was first streaming service I fully dropped, next was max and it looks like disney+ is next.

Frankly there is too many services nowadays with just handful content and they cost too much for the little they can offer and they tend to be more and more like traditional cable companies, so I predict that we will see more people to get hold of what they want to see in illegal streaming options or just download from torrent sites.

It's time for the streaming services to reinvent themselves or die.

@arstechnica The only streaming service worth keeping all year.

@arstechnica From what I can see they really haven't figured out how to market the service (the fact that Apple has named it so similarly to their hardware device does them no favors!). I actually think that it's the best service out there for me. I keep my Netflix account because there's so much there, but in terms of quality I find that there's more good stuff on TV+. But so few people know what's there or how to find it.

@arstechnica there are a ton of good Apple TV shows worth downloading elsewhere.

@cetan @arstechnica Slow Horses & Severance both great. Silo on the list. Yeah kinda limited but no ads! Also F1 movie with Brad Pitt in Summer ‘25. They’ll be ok : )

@smarq19 @arstechnica I just started Season 1 of Silo. So far enjoying it. It's going to carry me through until Fallout Season 2 is released :)

@arstechnica Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, Bad Monkey, Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, Shrinking, for me, are all exceptionally good TV shows - Mythic Quest, Foundation, Bad Sisters, See, Masters of the Skies, and a number of others are also well worth a watch. I think AppleTV+ is great for TV shows, but Apple could save some money by forgetting about spending truckloads on movies, which apart from CODA (that they bought on the cheap from Sundance) get a pretty big thumbs down from me.
