If T-Mobile did not give me Netflix, I would not have Netflix.
Every show I have ever liked gets canceled on Netflix. Even their successful shows, get canceled. At some point as a subscriber, you have to ask yourself, what's the point?
@Linux_Is_Best @arstechnica Alt.binaries here. fuck corporations
@arstechnica@mastodon.social a reputable VPN is like 1/3 the cost, just sayin
@arstechnica Ahoy there me hearties
@arstechnica Just paused my membership. I really don't know if I can justify that price, and I categorically refuse to watch Netflix with ads.
@jaredwhite @arstechnica Trying to have users pay for their crappy self-created content. I liked them when they were a place I could catch up with network tv shows and foreign shows and movies.
And, then, gotta keep the stockholders happy, at any expense.
@CStamp @arstechnica yeah for me Netflix has been one of the least good of the big streamers for a while now. Whenever I go into the app and look at the list of shows I'm currently watching, I'm surprised how few there are and how long it's been since I touched them.
I'll shout out Tubi as an example of a streamer that, while it has ads, has been quite valuable to me as it costs $0. Sort of feels like if "broadcast television" were reinvented for today.
@jaredwhite @arstechnica
I stopped last year. I was sharing with a friend so the real cost was half, which I thought was about right. Once they clamped down on sharing, it was no longer economically viable.

Really amazing how their quality and price are on completely different trajectories.
Went up to my mom's over the holidays and decided to pop into her Netflix account to see if there was anything I "needed" to watch. Spent most of the holiday watching YouTube videos.
But, hey: at least NetFlix will be able to afford to make quality fare like Rebel Moon!
@arstechnica AIGAIN? Or it this still the one that we talked about a few month back?
@arstechnica More and more I'm tempted to just throw into the rotate thru a few times a year list to binge the new stuff.
@arstechnica wondering when my tipping point will be and I finally cancel and just put that money towards more DVDs and Blu-rays for my Plex server...
@jongranrose @arstechnica We did. Couldn’t be happier with it.
@arstechnica enshittification continues. I can remember a time just 10 years ago when Netflix was the exact opposite of this; cheap and with great shows. Anyways yeah screw profit seeking capitalists lol
@arstechnica I get that price increases are painful, but I remember paying $20/month for just the mailed DVDs when Netflix started out and my experience is that over the years we've had a big increase in value for our dollars. YMMV of course. But I think we are getting more for less (taking inflation into account.)
@arstechnica This is how you increase piracy?
I already know so many people who are on the fence or have given up on NF subscriptions.
@arstechnica I don’t need it, no matter how many price hikes they have.
