My understanding is that the Mastodon referenced in the original toot is the server software many of the servers are running on.
When each individual server, such as mastdn.social, is going to get the upgrade is up to each server's sysadmin.
The Mastodon Android app is the official app. Many others exist.
@flow @austinkocher @Gargron @Mastodon At a guess, it may initially deploy on the dot social instance, then be rolled out to the rest by the admins of each instance, so may take a few days to propagate across the Fediverse. I don't know whether it can be installed "live" or whether the instances have to temporarily go offline; or indeed whether the instances have test environments they deploy to first (so any conflicts between M version and their config can be ironed out before going live).

@hanif @Mastodon From what I understand, there is an intentional decision not to include a "quote tweet" feature, because they found that what QT tends to do is reduce engagement and amplify noise.
People would QT when they should have Liked or RTed. Or when they should have replied. Here, you are more likely to actually engage with the original content.
I'm glad it's not here, lots of accounts would use it to sort of steal content. The QT account would get amplfied, not the original.

@OliKockova @ondra @Mastodon @Gargron @austinkocher That looks to me as a SMTP configuration error, you need to look into the SMTP settings in the `.env.production` file.
@ondra @austinkocher @Gargron @hugo @Mastodon I'm using Mailgun SMTP service, credentials are correct. I reset password for SMTP sender for sure and aplied in .env.production.
In Sidekiq I can see another error:

While I have the attention of the experts, is there an easy way to follow what's posted on another instance. I'm on mastodon.social but would it be possible, for example, to have climatejustice.social as a tab so that I can quickly peruse all the posts on the other instance? If there's an easier way to do this today, I'm all ears!

@austinkocher @Gargron @Mastodon The ability to translate posts is invaluable to me, as I've been following many Ukrainian folks on the bird site and translation allows me to follow what they're saying(and learn a bit of Ukrainian along the way), so I'm glad the Mastodon devs are adding this feature.

I fucking hate .heic files, I had to install #imagemagick on work computer just to convert them into a normal format that non Apple devices can open, please tell me those will get converted to normal formats (PNG and jpg) on the back end in mastodon
