@bjoern @dpc I can't agree here. Wouldn't want to go back to email. For us, Slack plus GitHub issues work reasonably well. of course, culture has to be built and maintained, just as you would have to with email.

Instant messaging has many drawbacks for me. It is almost impossible to contribute to a discussion if you join the room hours or even days later. It is also hard to read it up later and find out what was decided why. Chats work great for the virtual water cooler, quick coordination in a small group around a meeting/topic in an ad-hoc room. But IMHO not as a company wide discussion and decision making tool.

@bjoern I would agree in parts. For longer-living discussions that need structure we create issues, plus (optionally) talk synchronously.
