loops will be ready to self host with a simple installation process (mysql, php, redis, ffmpeg) by the end of this month!
it will still be beta software, but it's been running pretty stable so far on loops.video and we're switching our approach to open first development, as it should be.

@dansup
Great! Is Postgresql supported?
@dansup nice! Well done!
@dansup Does that mean federation is enabled?
@dumpsterqueer it will be, but super limited to start with.
We don't ingest videos from other servers yet, just comments to local videos, I'm still trying to figure out how to handle remote top level media in the context of our For You algorithm, as we do calculate some complicated metadata on the client side
@dansup interesting... and will it send stuff out already? Ie., videos, comments, etc? Or is it incoming activities only?
@dansup I already bought the domain name. Just waiting.
@Jerry@hear-me.social @dansup@mastodon.social Going to be so great seeing other instances for loops pop up.
@abulling its mirrored there, https://codeberg.org/pixelfed/pixelfed
edit: yeah, looks like its not being updated anymore, will look into this!
@dansup I also meant loops etc - all of it. It's time to leave US services
@dansup *cries in postgres*.
@dansup I tried to sign up with Palemoon, a modern and actively developed browser. It did not work (cleared the entry fields and nothing else happened). It seems that cloudflare only wants to support two brands of browser.
