My Mastodon is bleeping at me all the time. They say this is saying it's because I have Notifications waiting.
But -- when I go to the Notifications section, there's nothing like 16 new messages waiting. In fact that number never seems to change.
@davew The first thing to do would be to mark the notifications read (there should be a ✓ checkmark sign at the top; they should switch from having a (blue?) border on the left to not having any). It's also possible that you're not seeing all notifications (there's several categories and you can choose which are displayed, in separate tabs).
Finally, sometimes I've see the indicator getting stuck too, but force-reloading the page worked (I use the web app).
@davew have activated bleeping for individual users? You can turn on notifications for a user. The. Every time they post something you'll get a notification. But it doesn't show in your notifications column.
@maxheadroom -- I just have the default settings for bleeping.
