It's surprising how often this stuff affects one on unforseen ways. There is currently a parent battle happening on 3d printing. A newer Chinese company is currently dominating the "prosumer" level market by making printers that actually WORK. One of the larger companies is claiming ownership of several of their innovations. The trouble is: A) they didn't invent anything, they bought a small company that incorporated a number of hobbyist created innovations into one of their earlier models and claims that gives them ownership of the idea, B) they didn't care at all until suddenly this Chinese startup started dominating the market by making it all work properly. In the end, the purchaser loses if they win.

Basically, sue the PTO for allowing them to exist. The existence of patent trolls violates the reason for the existence of PTO outlined in the Constitution.
