Something I wanted to do with Volume One of "Wolf, Witch, Warrior" was highlight the absurdity of transphobic concern trolling.

The protagonist is a 15-year-old intersex trans girl who was surgically altered as an infant but has essentially complete androgen insensitivity. She has never had a male puberty. She literally can't. She looks like a girl and was physically developing as one.

She was as close to "the perfect case" as I could imagine -- and her parents and society still rejected her.

Because that's what society does.

Transphobes imagine every trans girl as a hulking "super predator" waiting to happen, even when they're a skinny, harmless 15-year-old kid who's been on blockers or HRT and is physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially indistinguishable from a cis girl in every respect save the obvious.

Kids die because of this shit. Because of people like them.

And they're basically okay with that.

And it is absurd, in the worst possible meaning of the word.

Nowhere Girl

We've had generations of kids and adults transition and none of the scare stories have come true.

There has been no outbreak of violence in restrooms. Trans women haven't swept every sports championship. The rate of regret is essentially zero.

Trans kids have grown up and gone about their lives.

But the stigma remains.

We hear the same made-up bullshit.

Year after year.

It's enough to make me despair about human nature.

@gwynnion I do not believe are not beholden to some mythical human nature that sets limits to our capacity for love.
If human nature is at its core kinda shitty, then screw human nature. We can do better.

If human nature has a ceiling on empathy, limited by the oppression of tradition, then perhaps we should become the ‘monsters’ of the new world trying to emerge.

Monster just means you are something they are afraid of. I want the fascist, who this year chose to impose fascism on the rest of us, to be afraid of those of us willing to choose empathy.

@bigTanuki "Beware the Nice Ones" is kind of the moral of the rest of the story for a reason.

@gwynnion
I’m surprised it took you something this evolved and complex to despair over humanity…

@gwynnion Just "generations"? We can find trans people in ancient epic poems (e.g. the Mahabharata), in hagiographies from the early centuries of Christianity (e.g. St Eugenia/Eugenius of Rome) (yes there's an official Catholic trans saint), in medieval tales (e.g. the tale of the Knight of Silence). It's not just a few generations, it's literally the whole of documented human history. Transphobes need to suppress all these *millenia* of history to push their hate narrative. Don't let them.

@gwynnion It is intriguing to see how much focus is solely on transfem people while ignoring the very real issues transmasc people face too. Probably better they are ignored (saves them from being another target) but still deeply concerning how little focus they have.
