They appear because one or other automated account I follow boosts them because of a certain hashtag, without discrimination. </p><p>For instance, a webshop promoting a specific brand of lip gloss. "This makes you look good, therefore feel good, therefore it's good for your <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mentalhealth" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mentalhealth</span></a> Buy it here at 65% off!" 🤨</p><p>Any time I see that, I mute or block that account.</p><p>Who else does this?
