Today, Reddit forcibly removed me (and everyone else) as mods of /r/iOSProgramming, a subreddit of about 130k users. I was keeping the sub private / NSFW to prevent Reddit from monetizing it with ads.
@objc thank you for your service and it sucks this is how it ended
@objc Thank you for your work! Let's hope this community continues on the other platforms.
@objc Thank you for trying. I no longer have a presence there due to this crap.
@objc@mastodon.social I understand their POV but that’s nasty move to do to be honest
@objc thank you for your service. Reddit Admins are complete trash. The fediverse has much better potential
@objc welcome to the club, lol... Try programming.dev instead
@objc it was a good run. On to something new!
@objc Lemmy is waiting for you.
@objc lemmy is growing and Lemmy.world also needs moderators. BTW Welcome to the fediverse
@objc Have you a new home on lemmy to share with us ? Glad you kept it nsfw as long as you could :)
@objc@mastodon.social wow, I’m so sorry about that
@objc You’ve been done better then the big subs, who gave in. Thanks for the effort and welcome to the better place. I bet you’re on Lemmy already?
@objc are you bringing that audience to the Fediverse?
@objc good praxis: only subscribe to nsfw subs, and truly stick it to them.
@objc An iOS dev community was recently created on the programming.dev lemmy instance. https://programming.dev/post/1765439
@objc will the community be willing to shift to lemmy?
@objc what's "reddit"? Is it a lemmy clone or something?
@objc I’m so sorry. You did the right thing. Come to Lenny. We’ll join you there.
@objc Thank you for being consequent and not bending. It's a shame how reddit treats its most valuable members :(
@objc Lemmy revolution
