It's not who did it first, it's who did it right.

Groups will be rolling out to select :pixelfed: instances next week, and will be available for all pixelfed instances after we conclude federation compatibility testing!

@pixelfed Very niceee! :clapping: you're so right about that mate! Faceb... who?

@pixelfed Awesome and slowjoin settings are good feature to have i guess is there / will there be documentation about how pixelfed implents this in regards to ActivityPub/ActivityStreams?

@pixelfed so this is 10th fedi groups implementation completely incompatible from others.

@a1ba You haven't seen our implementation, how can you say it's incompatible?

@pixelfed then what it is like?

Is it Smithereen's walls? Or whatever Alex did in Soapbox? Or old GNU Social groups with AP specificiation published recently?

@Gargron I remember @grishka talking to @dansup about this.

If y'all do it in a _compatible_ way across all engines, I'm all for it.

It, however, requires reaching consensus in what a group _is_ - how it works and how to interact with it from within and without.

@pixelfed @a1ba

Eugen, it should be — we discussed it with Daniel a lot, he says it should be compatible

@pixelfed But why can you post Text only in a pixelfed group?! Shouldnt you post at least some media? Or is this because supporting other groups within the fediverse? :blobcatthink:

@pixelfed Will this be compatible with Lemmy's communities?

@pixelfed looks promising with the public, private and local options. Not to mention the rate limiting / slow join

@pixelfed how will grups federate with Pleroma, Mastodon and others, and will there be a way to disable text posting even in groups, in case someome wants to make a picture only instance?

@pixelfed about that first line; Apple & Nintendo are 2 prime examples of that!

@pixelfed Cool! Any chance one of those select instances is ... Asking for a friend :blobeyes:

@dansup have you specified your implementation somewhere?

What I like is Heic compability.
is possible to requested that?
Many new phones have that

@pixelfed The UI for this looks so good!

So many features and options too 🤩
