While Toyota electric car sales are up 13.1 and Volvo sales are up 28.4 percent, Tesla sales are down 10.8 percent.

It could also be that the other car-manufacturers have closed the technical gap between them and Tesla, not just the Nazi-related activities of mr. Musk.
Here in Norway it doesn't look like what Musk does have to much impact on peoples views on the Tesla brand.
That said, for us, when we got a new EV last year, Tesla was out of the question mainly because of Musk.

@randahl I don’t have an electric car but I am Volvo for life, so when this car finally dies I’m hoping I can afford a Volvo Hybrid at least. I’m hoping to get another 80,000 miles out of this one, my last one made it to 192,000 miles, I think I can get this one farther.

But you’re right, Musk behavior is a factor in buying decisions. Many won’t consider Tesla new products.
Be careful where you get sales numbers. There’s a lot of gamesmanship out there. Cox Automotive are the people to trust. They track new vehicle registrations.

Wait, did Toyota finally abandon their Hydrogen push and make an actual BEV? *checks* ... Oh, no, not really. There's one, but they're still mostly pushing Hybrid. That was okay 20 years ago but is antiquated compared to where we need to be today (or 10+ years, tbh)
Thankfully there are other BEV cars out there now and they finally, just in the last year or so, started to support NACS for longer distances as an actual alternative. Toyota is still going to have to play catch-up.

@randahl The thing is that the picture has nothing to do with the article. As the article highlights sales for all of 2024 and Musk decline into right wing extremism became clear first at the end of the year.
It will be way more interesting to follow how the sales for Tesla will be developing over 2025. Will it be affected or not?
What?! Musk's inclinations were OBVIOUS when his Twitter purchase closed in end of 2022. He had been complaining about conspiracy theories for months, if not years at that point.

And the picture - that was taken in January this year have had a way larger media attention than when he bought {Shitter}.
That is why I think it will be more interesting to follow the sales in 2025. And regarding his purchase - better then to compare car sales numbers of 2022 with both 2023 and 2024.
This market research publicized last April made quite a lot of headlines. And since consumer opinion had already shifted by then, clearly it wasn't just a few outliers here and there who had started to notice.
