This timecode is remarkable for the entire interview.

Friedman claims that Putin loves his country. Zelenskyy strongly pushes back. You don’t send your kids to die in Syria or wage war in Ukraine if you truly love your country.

This part just highlights the naivety of many people that claim to „understand“ this conflict (including me) but still think to decide the fate about it.

This whole interview from Fridman just highlights the different realities they both live in.

One guy sends his people to their deaths every day to protect their country and families.

The other guy sits comfortably half a globe away, making podcasts and believing you can solve these problems with a „deal“. Ignoring all the killing and raping.

@obrhoff For some reason, those Russian-speaking individuals living long distance away from Russia (e.g. Fridman) and who haven't had to actually experience the grim realities of Putin's reign themselves – are very susceptible to Russian propaganda, which has been more fierce than ever recently.

So yeah, no surprise Lex is basically repeating Musk's and Trump's talking points re: "the peace deal" – they've been fed the same bullshit from Russia-sponsored media, and they totally fell for it

@rodionovd Tbh, you see this with a lot of immigrant communities, like Turks in Germany or Poles in Chicago.
They tend to romanticize their home country, focusing on the good parts, but at the same time, they don’t actually want to live there.
