If you ever doubt the usefulness of your efforts, remember that a substantial amount of trees are planted by squirrels hiding nuts and then forgetting where they put 'em
@sargoth so hide more nuts is what you're saying?
@Corvusheart do the thing
@algorev @Corvusheart there is a spirit in the woods
@sargoth This, incidentally, is one reason why we don't have orchards of Oak trees.
There *are* sweet acorns, but we can't select for them because *so many* nuts are essentially planted by squirrels it's basically impossible to only plant sweet trees.
@RAOF squirrels are amazing
@sargoth great. Another thing I have to remember.
@sargoth Squirrels... just like men, always putting their nuts where they aren't wanted.
@sargoth …or do they really forget?
@sargoth Also sunflowers and corn in our yard.
@sargoth Wouldn't that imply that substantial amount of trees are nut trees? Looking around, that doesn't seem to be correct.
@sargoth Sounds like the ecological wisdom of the Tao Te Ching: the seemingly useless becomes a necessary background condition for the useful. 🏵️🌿

Somewhere out there is a mature forest of poorly-written QBasic programs. I'm not sure if I should apologize or just pretend it never happened.
