Tech writer: mastodon will never kill twitter

Mastodon users: meh, that's okay, all I ever really wanted was a place where I wouldn't be relentlessly attacked by nazis, ads or nazi ads

Tech writer: and therefore Mastodon sucks and is doomed to perpetual failure

Mastodon users: maybe you want to double-check your metrics of success, bud

Tech writer: dooooooooooooooooomed!

It is good that tech writers are not our primary source of validation

@sargoth the descentralized nature of gnu social, mastodon, diaspora and others make it easier for trolls and nazi trolls to appear over here, and we'll end building a web-of-trust (toot-of-trust? TooOT?) someday, surely, but I agree.

The distributed web has way more potential than isolated business-owned models.

@fermuch @sargoth Î would say without any Ads. (doesnt matter if they are from nazis or other extremists right-left)

The only Thing that is possible are hidden Ads. (Account Posts)

That is one of the bootiful Things about Mastodon/Gnusocial.

If a User is trolling -> Block and thats it.

Trolls are on every Platform. Ignoring them is the best way ^^

Tech writer: Actually 99% of mastodon users just want to see DRAWN CHILDPRON and that is the only reason it's kinda growing

@sargoth If you're not #1 by MY measurement, you shouldn't even bother trying!!! ;/

@sargoth insert that cliche of how people who say it can't be done shouldn't interrupt the people doing it

@ink_slinger there always seems to be at least one in the works somewhere

@sargoth You'd think, if they really thought Mastodon was dead, they'd stop writing about it.

It took me a minute to realize you were talking about tech bloggers (dare we not call them actual journos), not technical writers, who produce documentation, etc.

@sargoth Yes, almost all tech writers are living in the neo-liberal parallel universe. If there's no IPO or there is no VC involved it short circuits their hipster brain. 😎

This reminds me of how Esperanto has supposedly been dying since its inception, despite growing steadily every decade.

@sargoth Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding the less people on the network, the higher I perceive its quality.
