medical, long covid, +
So it looks like some scientists think they may've figured out what's up with long covid - people have a lot of micro blood clots which normally a body is good at breaking down, but these ones have inflammatory chemicals trapped in them and aren't breaking down.
Most likely they're reducing the amount of oxygen getting to cells, which sure would explain a lot of the symptoms.
This is the kind of news we need right now-

@alexandra @haskal Funny you should say that. The Internet Archive has three data centers in the Bay Area (in San Francisco, Richmond, and Redwood City), all of which lie on one of two major earthquake faults (the San Andreas Fault and the more active Hayward Fault), that have a projected chance of over 90% of producing a 6.7 magnitude or greater in the next decade. Two of the three locations are at risk of being completely inundated by sea level rise in the next 30 years. The archive is so large that only a small portion is shipped to further remote locations.
This crap sickens the hell out of me.
Folks who enjoy certain human rights in the West being oh-so-very understanding of systems used to oppress people elsewhere (while it just so coincidentally happens to benefit their wallets) isn’t being “culturally sensitive”, it’s normalising oppression. It’s lacking a fucking backbone. It‘s privilege, front and centre.
With apologies to Desmond Tutu, the people being oppressed in those countries do not appreciate your “cultural sensitivity”.
