Publishers offer sales data every six months. I have no idea of how anything is doing until 5-11 months after publication.

I have real time sales data on my self-pub books. This leads me to try to impose cause & effect on random purchase patterns. "I've only sold 2 books today, must do something!"

Surely there's a happy medium?
