TikTok shut itself down as part of a pro-Trump propaganda campaign.
The likelihood of a quid-pro-quo with Trump is extremely high. Using TikTok will mean being propagandized with pro-Trump messages over the next four years.
You are not immune to propaganda!
I really have no idea what Trump’s motive is regarding TikTok, not sure he is either but the real reason #TikTok was banned was the inability of US/Israel to control the narrative on the platform.
What controls or censorship US will have on TikTok in the future is purely speculative at this point.
lies
#tiktok major stakeholder and the guy who helped found it with his money is *the* largest #GOP donor and funds a #rightwing thinktank in #Israel to warp the judiciary and keep #netanyahu in power:

#tiktok is no friend of #Palestine
#tiktok is no friend to #activism
Never was
Anyone who believes otherwise is being played for a fool, spied on and manipulated, helping everything they stand against
@benroyce
I am not going back on it and I hope that everyone else considers leaving it.
Rednote is a much better app.
TikTok belongs to Maga now.
@benroyce
I don't think you understand WHY I am doing it...
Supposedly the TikTok ban was about security...I don't believe that. I think it was to tamp down on the Resistance that was organizing. So I will stay on a Chinese owned app Rednote because if a bunch of politicians are worried about security then they will have to shut down Rednote also correct?
And then we will move to another app and continue the game.
Project Mayhem 2025
Your subjective opinion about REDnote is your own, and I can't argue against it, but what you're saying is not an objective fact. I've been using REDnote for a couple of days, and I think it's great, and I benefit greatly from using it over other apps.
@Radical_EgoCom @benroyce it really shows that this TikTok thing was never about data or security, if it was how the hell is Temu still allowed to operate in the US??
Even if people don’t use the app and shop on the website, they sell counterfeit products, products made with stolen art from small businesses in the US, they use forced labor to make these counterfeit products, and sometimes they are literally poisonous.
But Temu isn’t banned AT ALL. Because people aren’t organizing against fascism on Temu, nor are Americans using it to make $ independently of a “boss”.
I think I just answered my own question. Temu is allowed because if someone can buy a T-shirt that says “They weren’t burning witches, they were burning WOMEN” for two dollars on Timu they’re not going to spend $20 on that T-shirt from the small business in the US that designed it. So that lady might be forced to go work for a boss. Just like the capitalists want.
