Archive.org, a repository storing the entire history of the Internet, has been hacked
31 million records containing email addresses and passwords hashes exposed.
@arstechnica hacking that is just wrong
@arstechnica what a bummer
@arstechnica
Oh no, that feels bad, they touched something that *belongs* to us, that should be cherished. What a develish scheme.
@arstechnica@mastodon.social Yeah that's why you do not collect people's name, address, phone no. , gender, hobby, location, photos, etc.
If you only collect email addresses all you got to leak is email addresses.
@arstechnica With my overly optimistic hat on, I'm hoping the perpetrator was trying to make a point about under funding of archive.org and is sending the credentials solely to HIBP to prove the point. I concede that this is pretty unlikely.
