Finally watched “The French Dispatch”. I don’t know if the Youngs can appreciate it. It is a love letter to words and long-form thinking and art and ambiguity and ridiculous pretension and an analog world that no longer exists. It is art that is aware of its own expiration.

“Strange New Worlds” is the best new Star Trek show in a long time.

Hi fediverse! Boosts appreciated on this one.

I’m part of a co-op building a platform for artists to sell art without getting exploited. I’ve been working on it for a while but there’s a lot of work to do and I could use some help. A ton of the main features are in place, but there’s still some big gaps and a lot of polish left before it can launch.

The platform is fully open source and developed in the open. It’s built on Phoenix/Elixir and Tailwindcss. Our co-op is already incorporated and established and it’s open to members that want to actually commit but you don’t need to be a member to contribute or help.

Does this sound interesting? I’d love some help! I’m also happy to answer questions. And no, you don’t need to know Elixir already. It’s pretty easy to learn for the things you’d be using it for. Even some design help would be welcome. Feel free to reply here or DM me!

I just learned about this:
from @hola_soy_milk on our Wasm.Builders Fireside chat. It is unbelievably cool.

Johnny Cash as the Manneken Pis I guess to put out the Ring of Fire? Who knew Arkansas vandals were such cultural synthesists?

“We got it! ... We were stunned by how well the size of the ring agreed with predictions from Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.”

Profiles and posts on Mastodon and the Fediverse have public versions you can share with people who aren't on the Fediverse.

To see the public version of a profile, click on the profile picture. This will open the public version of the profile in a new tab.

To see the public version of a post, click on the datestamp below the post. This will open the public version of the post in a new tab.

These "public pages" are handy for sharing with friends, because they don't require logging in to see them.

Public pages are also very useful for something else:

If you paste the URL address of a public page into the search box on Mastodon, and then search for it, the post or profile will appear within your server. This is handy if you cannot find a post or person by searching, but you know they exist on another server.

Searching for a URL like this forces your server to "notice" the profile or post.

It also works with URLs from PeerTube, PixelFed etc.

Hey fedi friends;

It's okay to not think of the fediverse as your new home. It's okay to have multiple social networks you participate in. It's okay to grow your community here over time, and know that it will take time to grow here.

It's very rewarding to be here, if you keep showing up and putting in the effort.
