Pinafore is an alternative web client for Mastodon that I'm releasing today. The goal is to make a lightweight standalone web app that can plug into multiple instances, with a UI focused on speed and simplicity.

Pinafore is still beta-quality in places, but it's already the main client @ElfLord and I have been using for the past few weeks. I've been working on it since the start of this year. Hope y'all like it. 😊

Thank you for helping move humanity forward, Stephen, and for being a progressive voice for social justice, science, and reason. You will be missed.

*Twitter is not a public utility* by @Gargron

"Isn’t it a bit strange that the entire world has to wait on the CEO of #Twitter to come around on what constitutes healthy discourse? I am not talking about it being too little, too late. Rather, my issue is with β€œinstant, public, global messaging and conversation” being entirely dependent on one single privately held company’s whims. Perhaps they want to go in the right direction right now for once, but who’s to say …"

Good mornink all.
It's been a while since I took a look here. Glad to see this is still alive.

Have a nice day.

To those who celebrate it, Happy New Year.
To everyone, best wishes for 2018, and most of all, a good health.

We should call it GNU/Linux inasmuch as that irritates Linus, and just Linux when Stallman is in earshot

"The rain was coming down so fast that the drops were having to queue."

Regardless of a few plotholes, I did enjoy the new Star Wars movie quite a lot.

Spent a good 5 hours trying to get Mastodon up and running on a dedicated (clean) server. Tried the standalone approach. Tried the docker approach. Tried on Debian. Tried on Ubuntu 16.04.

Ah, well. Giving up for the day. Might need to enlist some assistance in figuring out where I might have gone wrong (or of I'm justing hitting a known issue).

Would be cool to have a self-hosted instance for me and my community... if I can figure out how. :)

Continuing with , when you'vw got used to the characters, it becomes really good. Especially starting late 3rd season, season 4.

The Orville is really good at being Star Trek.
