There was a dramatised version of "Thousand Cranes" by Yasunari Kawabata on BBC radio 3 tonight, a story of loss and love, framed by the tea ceremony.

I have previously read his "The Master of Go". He was truly a great writer.
But just now I read his Nobel Lecture, and it is one of the most profound pieces on Japan that I have ever read. I am really moved by it.

Hey Apple users:
If you're now experiencing hangs launching apps on the Mac, I figured out the problem using Little Snitch.
It's trustd connecting to http://ocsp.apple.com
Denying that connection fixes it, because OCSP is a soft failure.
(Disconnect internet also fixes.)
