You can now get three kinds of #PureOS subscription from @purism!
Each of them:
- Helps maintaining releases and bug fixes
- Helps pushing code to other projects
Free and Open Source Software (#FOSS) developers also need an #income!
Consider subscribing if you want to advance #Linux #privacy friendly computing or if you are using #MobileLinux.
@janvlug @purism ok but why is this on #postmarketOS ? If they were at least a non-profit maybe I'd respect the double meaning
@janvlug @purism so you're saying people should give Purism - a for-profit company - money, because they did the bare minimum of hiring open source devs and letting them keep their work in the open?
I can't tell you where your purism subscription will go, but anyone can tell you exactly where you money goes if you donate to a project like postmarketOS directly instead... And to be frank, I'd argue that you get much better bang for your buck when it comes to progressing the Mobile Linux ecosystem.
@cas It was definitely not my intention to do anything in the disadvantage of postmarketos. I highly appreciate postmarketos although I do not use it myself.
I have no problems with for-profit companies that provide (ethical) value to society. And I highly appreciate privacy focused hardware built to run #linux. Purism is a social purpose company.
It was for sure not my intention to do any unfair thing to postmarketos and I highly value their work.
Therefore I also changed my post.
@bart @purism On your request, I will update the post. My reason to mention #postmarketos was because I think that in the Mobile Linux FOSS world all developments that are upstreamed help other distributions as well.
