@jgilbert suck it Kant
@jgilbert Immanuel Kant would beg to differ. Fortunately, I’m not a Kantian.
this is what I call the 'Kant is a twit' principle.
His argument that you can't stop murderers killing your friend because the entire concept of truth disappears is - to quote Bertrand Russell - so stupid that only an intellectual could believe it.
I'd go further than this example and say it is morally OK to say 'no, they're not in the house and I haven't seen them'.
@stephenwhq @jgilbert It's also morally acceptable to say, "I don't talk to cops. Give me your warrant, or leave." Not sure how one can preserve an ideal of truth without at some point recognizing that it never existed.
@stephenwhq @jgilbert Don't hide at their place.
@jgilbert tell me your alignment is neutral good without telling me your alignment is neutral good
@jgilbert Yeah, but don't you tell Kant about it.
@jgilbert besides, you're allowed to lie, actually, you won't be smitten from heavens for it
@jgilbert "Do you consent to cookies?" = "Will you one day bend the knee to our Oligarch Overlords (who may kill you or your friends)?"
