Elon "Free Speech" Musk is unleashing lawyers on a fishing expedition against all groups that've said anything bad about him.

This is your guy, Tesla drivers.

@kurtsh All speech is free speech as long as it doesn’t criticize the insecure man child.

@mookie Sounds to me like, "All speech is equal. But some speech is more equal than others."

“filed in the Northern District of Texas, where it will appear before Judge Reed O’Connor, who holds $15,000 of stock in Tesla, Musk’s other company. (Earlier this week, Media Matters lost its bid to have O’Connor recuse himself.)”

How is this even allowed? I thought they had a code of ethics. surely this is considered a conflict of interest #ReformTheCourt 🤬

@Yogiomm "Media Matters lost its bid to have..."
Okay, THAT'S a piece of information I wasn't aware of. I thought that was still in play.
Damn, these neocon judges seriously need an ethics hammer dropped on them.

@kurtsh I hope they make him prove anything they said wasnt true 😊

A... a lawyer can't... a lawyer can't just send subpoenas, can they? I thought a judge had to approve it!
And you can't subpoena records. You can only subpoena people, ordering them to appear in court!

As a Tesla driver.
No, he's not my guy.
In fact, he's become a massive disappointment & I hope moves on soon.

@JustRobForNow I know. I said it for effect. I sat with 6 Tesla owners this week whose opinions spanned from "it's just a car with cool tech" to "the guy makes me cringe" to "I feel like I'm driving a MAGA hat" to "I'm in the middle of selling it".

None said they'd buy another. "Besides, there's other choices with better rides/handling now."

Universally, they were incredulous anyone bought a Cybertruck. "It's embarrassing." "It's like wearing big ugly jewelry: You're trying too hard."

@kurtsh
Thanks,
I have a cyber truck reservation which I will cancel at a strategic time.
When I reserved it, the ct was quirky cool as it was bringing the cars of blade runner to life in the year that blade runner was set.
Now, as you say, it would embarrassing.
When we first bought our Tesla, all the local kids would give a 👍 when we drove past. Now I just want to peel off the badges.
Having said that. It's an awesome car with zero problems, effectively runs on sunlight & no servicing.
