@strypey I have a vision of bringing #ccmusic events to every region of the world. I have a tentative timeline of doing events in Central US in 2025 and 2026. then in some order I'd like to do #japan #france and western #canada before maybe returning to the US on the west coast. point being, there is some time to learn how to make this work.
I guess I'm wondering if maybe you'd be interested in being involved in something in New Zealand (or possibly Australia)
... a thread
@strypey one thing that might be useful to do is to find partners in various locations and have a joint event. Like, we could do a #fediverse and #ccmusic meetup. I mean, maybe this is the exact framework to take everywhere and we expose non-fediverse cc folks to the pluses of not fighting algorithms and we expose fediverse folks to the bonuses of extricating themselves from corporate music. @wjmaggos seems like an idea you might like.
@wjmaggos I'm not exactly sure how to brand this, but it could be something like a split. people in punk and metal will understand that branding but not sure how much splits are used outside of those scenes. #music
maybe could do something with an open source audio software like Ardour or something. I think it'd need to be audio-specific because the general open source community is not open-minded enough to deal with the proprietary software a lot of music folks use.
@wjmaggos in any case, would helping put something like this together in 2028 in Milwaukee, Madison or Chicago be of interest to you? i kinda wonder if we could somehow tag along with Mad with Power. They already do arcade games and Ty's band was previously CC. he could potentially help with venue stuff if we did it in Madison.
I'm already talking to someone about the potential for 2027. obviously, there's a lot of time to stew in it. just thinking in the car
@strypey @clacke you can see in OP that I mention Japan but I am not exactly sure how that is going to work out. I am hoping we can get a lot of help from the Canadian expats I know living there but idk if they will be game and they live in southern Japan so that will be much harder than doing it in an big city, at least in some regards. in any case, if we did the joint meet-up thing maybe Hong Kong would be an option. part of the problem is I have never been to those places so no real sense
