"allvm-meta" is now public, containing little meta but two items that are worth sharing couldn't be more different:
* The ALLVM Logo source files and renderings
* Most (?) of the bsd kernel module I wrote for close-to-bare hosting of enough of an LLVM JIT to codegen the bitcode for FreeBSD kernel. From 2013! \o/
The latter isn't documented and is missing some minor bits (patches for uclibc, LLVM, etc.) that once I get a spare weekend I'll search old backups for.
Dear #Mastomind: Any guidelines on E-Ink / B&W/grayscale / low-refresh rate app design / UI/UX?
I've recently come into possession of an e-ink book reader, and am discovering the joys (seriously) and limitations (dittos) of e-ink displays and software designed for them.
I've just begun looking for any information concerning design guidance for e-ink devices, and am coming up very short. If you're aware of any such resources please respond to thread.
1) unsure of license (for either digital drawing or original, but esp digital drawing) so contact author if interested
2) since preview either doesn't work or grabs the other picture which is nice but not as logo-friendly, here's the digital drawing (see (1) above please! Original linked in previous post!)
Thank ACM SIGSOFT and community colleagues for the recognition! It is a great honor to be in line of past awardees with many role models whom I have admired and learned from for many years!! https://twitter.com/sigsoft/status/1365467675447627776
Do I have an http server that builds you a nixos netboot image on the fly from a closure?
torture, kickstarter, neurotypicals, change.org link, suicide mention, long
Kickstarter is hosting a product that parents of neurdiverse children are supposed to stick on their child's back.
That device will then beep every 8 seconds which is supposed to help the child to focus.
As a neurodiverse person, I can tell you that this device would not only ruin every chance of me focusing on anything, being forced to wear it would make me kill myself. I am not exaggerating here.
This is one of the worst forms of torture aimed directly at neurodiverse people I could imagine.
Here's a change.org petition to stop the sale of this: https://www.change.org/p/kickstarter-stop-kickstarter-from-allowing-child-abuse-of-neurodiverse-children
I doubt the petition will do much but the campaign does explicitly break a rule on kickstarter banning the sale of medical devices so maybe reporting it (it is linked in the petition) might help.
Words flow out. Surprise.
After some mental conversion,
Rethink. Adjust. Revise.
And come up with a reworked version.
Reveal to select group of readers.
To find the bad bits to reject.
Some will provide more...idea seeders.
Take in their comments. Reflect.
Edit with chisel and hammer
Polish, can't leave it rough.
Reveal it's potential glamor.
Some day, you say, "enough!"
Put it out; make it public.
Hope it gains traction,
And reactions don't make you sick.
Restart the action.
Now the fun stuff begins. 🚁
