Back together and pizza party with Cleo!

It’s been a super fun day. After 5 long weeks since I last saw you, we finally had a bit of time together.

Ahead of today I asked friends including Aaron, Julie and your friend Cleo, if they could visit.

Julie is 8 months pregnant and having a little boy. They have Sebastian and Noah on the shortlist of names. Let’s see which one they go for.

Aaron suggested for you and Cleo to make pizzas together and brought all the ingredients for us to make lunch together. It was such a thoughtful idea. He’s a very special friend to us.

I also made us savoury muffins with egg and veg so you could have your protein.

Pizza time!

We had 4 bases which I considered as 2 for the little ones and the rest for the adults. We added peppers, spring onion, cheese, lots of cheese… the base was Julie’s special butternut squash recipe.

So much going on in 1 scene! Cleo tenderly helping you with your runny nose

Fashionista

Our friend Jane from work had lent us some special little trainers for you to try on. They are special products from Japan and you got a chance to try these samples out like the fashion model that you are.

You stamped around with the larger pair. It was very cute. You were full of smiles all day.

Smart girl posing putting the shoes on Acting cool posing, the step on the balcony doors is your favourite to sit on

Lost time

Our time was very compressed. I had asked your mum about travelling to Purple Lane (rather than City Square) which would save at least 45 minutes – time for us together and less time for you waiting around on the trains. She refused. Out of 5 hours, she chooses to take time away from us. As she does in River Town with the horrid cold walk to the city centre.

Moments playing like these bring me so much joy. You’re my special little girl and I love you so much.

Sebastian or Noah?

At some point in the next few months, we’ll visit Julie and Aaron to celebrate their latest family member.

Their arrival will be the start of a new chapter in their lives. A sibling in a growing family.

In a couple of months we’ll still be going through court.

The thing I love the most is Saturday mornings when the kids are happy and talk to each other and the sister said: ‘bror-mis’ (roughly translated into English as: ‘brother-kitten’ when telling her brothers something.

It's okay to set boundaries with friends ❤️

Worrying about how others might react to your boundaries is completely normal. But instead of expecting a negative response, consider the possibility that your friend will listen and respect what you need.

Our fuzzy family member has passed

I heard from your uncle that Pluto passed today.

You met him too few times but I’m pleased you had the chance. Hearing you giggle with him was one of my highlights of last year

Pluto has been in the family since before you were born. It’s incredible all the things that have happened, from when he was a puppy to you being born.

Something that was very similar between you both, was your tenderness.

If heaven exists, we’ll all be reunited one day I suppose!

The last day you had some time with PlutoGiggling and chasing Pluto

One of my favourite videos is of you chasing Pluto around giggling and pulling at his hair. Maybe you were jealous!

Difficult memories

The last few times we were together with Pluto bring difficult memories. In the summer, our time had been cancelled again and again so grandma suggested we travel to River Town even if it was only a moment.

We travelled for hours and hours and your mum only allowed us 2 hours. She said it was because you had been unwell, but also refused to meet in the centre, probably 5 minutes in the car, which meant that we lost an hour travelling between the centre and the station.

I can’t understand how it would be in your interest to be needlessly taken in the buggy for an hour rather than enjoying the weather at the park with the family dog.

The last time you saw Pluto was when we went to visit grandma and the following day, just days before my birthday and Christmas, your mum refused to let us go to see your uncle and took you.

I wish memories of Pluto and you were happier and without this struggle and pain.

The future

One day there will be more pets and little ones. We’ll snuggle together when we’re under the weather and have the best time at picnics.

Finding a Rental Home in San Antonio: Navigating the Maze

Looking for a rental home should be exciting—a fresh start, a new chapter—but sometimes it feels like navigating an impossible maze. Right now, that’s where I’m at: searching for a rental in San Antonio that fits my family’s needs and my budget. Spoiler alert: it’s been a wild ride, and not the fun kind.

First, there’s the sticker shock. Rent prices are outrageous. Finding a place in a safe neighborhood, with good schools nearby, where I don’t have to worry about my two little ones being outside—that feels like asking for the moon. Add to that the recent discovery of pet fees—monthly, no less—and I’m left staring at my realtor like, “Wait, so now my pets have rent too?” I get it—pets can cause wear and tear, and I completely get the nonrefundable pet fee that comes in addition to the deposit but a whole monthly fee? It’s a money grab, plain and simple.

I’ve caught myself wondering: Am I crazy for thinking this is unreasonable? Is this just the cost of living now, or has it truly gotten out of hand? But then I remind myself: this isn’t about giving up or giving in. It’s about staying resilient.

Here’s the motivation I’m holding on to today: every hurdle, every frustration, every “this is too much” moment is part of the process of finding something worthwhile. Somewhere out there is the right home for my family—a place that feels safe, nurturing, and just right for all of us, pets included.

If you’re in a similar place—feeling like life is tossing roadblocks your way—know this: you’re not alone. Keep advocating for yourself. Don’t let the stress take away your voice, your power, or your vision of what you deserve. Because even in the mess of it all, you’ll find a way through. I believe that. I have to believe that.

Here’s to another week of figuring it out, one step at a time. Let’s keep going. ✨
