CeriSelkie tales are not romantic. A captured Selkie-wife will survive, play her role well because that keeps her safe, but that will never be all of her. Selkie tales are about escaping the abusive relationship, at the cost of everything from life before, and making a new life as a different sort of person. Loss, grief, but a freedom you couldn't even understand before, didn't realise was taken. CeriThere are many things Selkie tales get wrong. Seals are huge strong snarling biting predators. Do not mess with them. Restraining an entangled adult seal on land requires many people, pig boards, bite proof netting, careful planning, and good luck. Seal bites carry atypical *Mycoplasma sp.*, causing extensive necrosis which often required amputation ('Seal Finger'). Seals are fast. They outswim fish. Seals are tough. Blubber armour shrugs off wounds.
