DJ Fragile Toolchains<p>Another day in the life of a documentarian. <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/writethedocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writethedocs</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/techcomm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techcomm</span></a></p>
Phil Davis<p>What about tech writers, Mr. Stephenson? "All technical devices require documentation […], but this stuff can only be written by the techies who are doing the actual product development, and they absolutely hate it, always put the dox question off to the very last minute. Then they type up some material […], run it off on the laser printer, send the departmental secretary out for a cheap binder, and that's that." Phil Davis<p>I completed a major devportal migration. Yay!</p><p>Now I'm doing a lot of git housekeeping, merging and pruning branches. Ugh.</p><p>As a git noob, these big changes are all very stressful. Thank goodness I'm the only one working in the repo. QUnit<p>I'm drafting a diagram to explain how before/after hooks work in unit tests.</p><p>They tend to work the same way across test frameworks, so it's not unique to QUnit. But, new devs will learn this for the first time, so I think it's worth explaining.</p><p>Page:<br><a href="https://qunitjs.com/api/QUnit/module/#hooks" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">qunitjs.com/api/QUnit/module/#</span><span class="invisible">hooks</span></a></p><p>Issue tracker:<br><a href="https://github.com/qunitjs/qunit/issues/1358#issuecomment-2614663327" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/qunitjs/qunit/issue</span><span class="invisible">s/1358#issuecomment-2614663327</span></a></p><p>What do you think?</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/qunit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qunit</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TechnicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechnicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SoftwareDocumentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SoftwareDocumentation</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/documentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>documentation</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/devex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devex</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TDD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TDD</span></a></p>

Phil Davis<p>I'm migrating our devportal in Redocly Realm (highly recommended). Ran the preview server &amp; something didn't look right. The prompt was just "Press (q) to quit". Started to worry then realized it's missing total error counts &amp; "or (e) for full error log". The migration has been smooth, but it's taken a while because I'm doing all the refactoring, coding, writing, and styling. I've never seen a run with no errors before.</p><p>Yay!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/techWriterLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techWriterLife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/technicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>technicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/redocly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>redocly</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/writeTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writeTheDocs</span></a></p>
