@ai6yr Southern California Edison denies that their equipment started the Eaton Fire. They say that their transmission lines through the area were de-energized. It could still have started in the vegetation beneath the power lines and towers.
@ai6yr The transmission towers in Eaton Canyon are the huge high-voltage lines, nothing like the small and very old power lines that probably caused the Camp Fire in 2018.
@EricFielding @ai6yr It’s one of these chasing causes things though, without climate change how much of a problem would the power line be? I saw another article explaining that shutting down the power switched off vital water pumps but again why do we plan cities so the water needs electricity to pump it round? Most urban water systems still use gravity. Without the excessive use of the earth’s resources that caused climate change would the water pumps be more able to cope? It’s all going round and round looking for people to blame and companies to sue.
