Coleoptera drawer is mostly organized (if you don’t count the tray or two of unidentified annoyances). #entomology #beetles #coleoptera #insects
@MattFossen Nice drawer ! But I'm confused, unless I'm mistaken you have Melolonthinae in two different boxes with other Scarabaeidae. What's your ordering system ?
@MattFossen I'm also curious to know how you organized your Carabids
@StrepsipZerg You’ve discovered my “sort by family, unless that would waste space in a unit tray, in which case fill a tray with multiple families” strategy. I need to acquire another drawer and a ton of trays, then I can be more meticulous; money and availability are issues at the moment. They have all been photographed and digitized in my Symbiota database, at least.
@MattFossen That's a very legitimate strategy ! I was really not "judging", as I said I was just curious. That's a very neat collection, no matter the sorting
@StrepsipZerg No worries! I’m dreading the day I fill up my storage (I have an eight-drawer storage case that the campus museum was throwing out 20 years ago), which will be fairly soon.
@MattFossen That does sound like a lot of work. I'm quite happy I never started collecting, because I know I would never have had the discipline to keep it proper haha
I admire the people doing it to any degree of success !
