@arstechnica

Ah yes the “unease” of IT executives realizing their organizations are prey animals having their throats ripped out.

@arstechnica I hear KVM or proxmox are decent alternatives. (open to suggestions, because when my free VMware instance times out, I won't be going back.)

@arstechnica "Of course, we recognize that this level of change has understandably created some unease among our customers and partners. But all of these moves have been with the goals of innovating faster, meeting our customers’ needs more effectively, and making it easier to do business with us."

Yeah yeah yeah, heard that kind of corporate junk before. I have NO faith that Broadcom is actually truly helping anyone here. Moving on... 🙄

@arstechnica Broadcom's strategy is to only focus on Fortune 500 companies who can easily afford the price hikes they institue on all software they have acquired.
They did the same when they bought CA Software and their portfolio.

Small and mid sized businesses? They don't care about you.

And apparently the shareholders love it, seeing how they keep increasing Tan's salary.

@arstechnica *cough* Proxmox *cough* I know Linux is scary and everything, but... it's been around for 30 years. Give it a chance.

@arstechnica you know what's hard to lock into long burdensome contracts: FOSS. And of course it's not a cake walk to migrate to a new hypervisor but XCP-NG has some purpose built tools for migrating from VMWare that work pretty well.

"We fucked up, and we're going to fuck it up harder."

@arstechnica they should just be honest with themselves and refer to them as “opponents” instead of partners and customers.
