@ingalls Did you hear that the arctic circle actually got hotter than Florida on 8/7?
Thats actually very common. Remember the arctic circle isnt the same as saying antartica, its a much bigger area and includes areas that expiernce summers.
For example 30 - 40C (yes all the way up to 100F) have been recorded int he arctic circle in the past. On many occasions.
@freemo @damngoodtech it’s not something I would call very common; it did happen pre AGW. It is becoming more common, though, as ice melts in the Arctic and the surface gets darker. The mosquitoes must have been awful.
No doubt higher temperatures and new records are becoming more common, no doubt. But my point is there are records of florida being colder than points int eh arctic circle long before recent times is all. My point is just that its a bad metric since its not all that extraordinary.
