If supermarket delis and hot bars would make more hot food items that had more complex ‘Asian’ flavors instead of basic things like ‘Asian salad’ a lot of my breakfast savory food needs would be sorted. (Just walked out of a supermarket deli very sadly)
Still haven’t figured out how to feed myself in Monterey (I get super hangry if I don’t get rice by 10:30)
Instead I’m going to a breakfast meeting that is mostly sugar (donuts and pastries), which makes me :(
@skinnylatte there might be what you're looking for on the North side of Seaside or up in Marina. Monterey seems to hate spices and flavor in general.
@douglasvb yeah, i was at the first oriental market in seaside yesterday and i was like 'this is my place'
@skinnylatte I think there *might* be one on lighthouse in New Monterey as well but maybe I'm thinking of an Indian market instead... Like in the same block or the next block over from Crystal Fish...
@douglasvb i think there is an eastern european market there next to crystal fish! i also like that, even if they are lighter on spices, they do tend to have good quality items
@skinnylatte @douglasvb
Yeah Marina has a sizable Korean community especially, some history here…

@Starorstone @skinnylatte one of our Korean friends was disappointed that we didn't go up there and try to make it on the TV show
