Ended up with about 38 lbs / 17 kg honey put in the jars. 26 jars and each jar is 23+ oz or about 660 gram average.
@firephoto wow! That’s a lot.
@Morning1 It was more than I had guessed from the weight of the boxes, which isn't a bad thing.
@firephoto Well done, in a single hive, is it? But is it now? I would say, isn't it a bit late for harvesting?
@Chtixof These were stacked on a single hive, one was partially filled by another hive earlier in the summer but they needed to work on their winter stores so I pulled it. The hive they were put on was packed full of honey so they needed some room so I supered it on Sept. 6 with the partial and a foundation only box and pulled them Oct. 7. I run two deep box hives to get them through the winter and have only been feeding one of the 3 hives.
@firephoto liquid gold!
@LJ I'm always surprised how much honey a single hive can make and I haven't even harvested from a fully mature hive in 2 years. Last year was a swarm caught, this year I split the single hive, plus the queen I found made 3.
@firephoto That must be very satisfying.
@gecole It is. It seems a bit overwhelming when you start beekeeping but it's not too bad when you can get a little bit of the extra honey they don't need.
@firephoto Wow. That’s quite a gift from all those bees. Well worth the work to collect and jar as well, I imagine.
@firephoto What a beautiful sight! Thanks for sharing the results of your beekeeping partnership.
@firephoto that is a hobby I would like to pursue, if I'm ever able to move off the boat.
@firephoto Have spoon and cash. Will travel. :)
