Jochen Lillich
Looks like it was good timing that I joined here just a few weeks ago! Here's my #introduction.

I'm a German greybeard system administrator living in Ireland who turned his passion for computers into a small web hosting business. I started programming in 1984, and using Linux in 1993. I do live-coding in Ruby, and I am building a DevOps learning community named Opsitive.

I also love mechanical computer keyboards. Do get in touch, so I can go clickidythock for my answer!

Jochen Lillich
After finishing the setup of my own Mastodon instance in my live stream earlier today, I now have a new account, geewiz@geekdom.social.

I'm going to migrate this account over after making sure everything is running smoothly.

Jochen Lillich
On today's Full Stack Live, I'm going to continue my build of a scalable Mastodon cluster. Join me for a live stream all about Ruby coding, infrastructure operations and general CTO stuff! #Ruby #DevOps #Linux

https://watch.geewiz.dev

jsrn
OSS governance models are still something I’m broadly ignorant of, but I’d love to see Rails get to a point where the bad opinions of a few figures don’t have such an outsized effect on the community.

I know a lot of projects have done well under a BDFL but:

1. Was that because of, or in spite of?
2. Is it not essentially still a single point of failure for the project’s reputation?

StillIRise1963
I'm a 59 year old African American woman. I've desegregated a town, a school system and many other spaces. When I discuss racism in this nation, I'm not going to ameliorate my speech for the comfort of anyone. I don't exist to comfort others about the reality of what I was born into - what we all live in together. If that's a problem for you, I suggest you embark on some self-reflection to determine what your actual role is within this system.
#racism #politics #BlackMastodon
#blackmastodon

Eugen Rochko
The moderation team is bigger than ever and so is the amount of reports we have to process. We're dealing with unprecedented growth despite having closed registrations on these servers weeks ago. Some false positives are unavoidable, but we understand these mistakes are upsetting and unacceptable, and we are trying to do better. Luckily all moderator actions can be appealed and reversed.
