My distribution recommendation guide for various users:

* Arch/Gentoo: Elitist, technically skilled, enjoys challenges.
* Debian: Experienced, values stability and customization.
* Fedora: Enthusiastic, early adopter, embraces new technologies.
* Ubuntu or Mint: Beginner-friendly, user-friendly, values ease of use.
* FreeBSD or OpenBSD or NetBSD: You know what you want in life. Nuff said.

@nixCraft In the ancient times, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, I started with Slackware. Then I moved on to Ubuntu for many years, followed by a passionate fling with Mint. Now, in my midlife crisis, I've gone totally crazy and switched to Fedora. I've been quite unfaithful at work. I used Debian, Ubuntu, openSUSE Tumbleweed and Oracle Linux, It's now my new thing. It works great!
