@itsfoss remove French language pack
@itsfoss you can set up system of backups so when you mess something, you can rollback in a few minutes instead of an hour or so (looking at you, M$) and mess it up again.
@itsfoss@mastodon.social Rizzing a girl with my riced AF Arch Linux + Hyprland
@itsfoss no Linux distro ever asked me to reboot, since 1998 circa
@itsfoss I wish more people understood what it is like to use technology that respects the user and their priorities.
@itsfoss
You can 'install it to' & 'run it from' removable memory like usb
no wiping or install on your harddrive necessary
The fact that you don't have to load the system with bloatware and third party apps to make sure that your system is secure, nowadays #linux is also target by virus and malware but generally speaking I still feel more secure in linux sticking with official distro packages and flapacks. I started trying out immutable linux distros, #universalblue aurora being a good example, this in my opinion, is a very good way forward for linux desktop. Cheers
@fpedrosa Immutable distros are cool
@itsfoss
You will never see another ad in your start menu again.
You will never have to wait an eternity for os updates to install again.
You will never see the „Installing updates XX%“ boot screen again.
You will never have to deal with annoying corporate money making decisions again.
And finally:
You will never have to update your apps one at a time again.
Once Linux is set up, it is so much easier to deal with than anything else.
@itsfoss It is not a rent-a-computer.
It is mine.
@itsfoss
I'm able to set up, configure and use the machine my way, not the other way around
@itsfoss how simple it's become to use of late.
@magitian Agree!
@itsfoss
As long as you're not using an NVIDIA GPU, no drivers whatsoever.
Yes yes, I know this isn't 100% accurate. But remove edge cases and it's the experience for the vast majority of desktop users.
@itsfoss Freedom. The freedom to choose to install whatever Linux distribution you want to (or make your own) and to do whatever you want with it on your own devices. The ability to take onboard the worlds recommendations as to why and how they use their particular distro, then empowers you to make your own mind up about what you would like to use.
@healthiswealth Windows could never be as free!
@itsfoss Yep. Never was. Never will be.
@itsfoss That it's not Windows.
@itsfoss
Connect multiple PCs (SSHFS, SMTP, ect.) to share files. I tried to do that in Windows and it never worked. Never. I don't know, if it was a configuration thing, that I didn't get, but it's straight forward in Linux. Open the first tutorial you find and you are good to go
@itsfoss the popular distros can be run easily without ever using the terminal.
@itsfoss GNU+Linux is not a command-line OS running on a TTY. It does not need the terminal for everything you do.
@itsfoss not participating in the big data exploitation machine.
