@chris +1
I only wish Ivory on iPad would sync properly. I guess it's because I only use it on the weekend, but every time I load it up, it gets it wrong, and several times I've lost my position (off by hundreds) trying to use the iPad specifically to catch up
@ivory Any chance you've got some iPad improvements in the pipeline?
@jerclarke @chris iCloud sync works just fine. You just have to have a better understanding of how it works which we try to explain in this document: https://tapbots.com/support/ivory/general/icloud
But sync is going to take longer on a device that doesn't get opened as often. The only way we can sync your position is after we have loaded all of the missing posts from your timeline.
@ivory @chris I read the article and I believe I understand it. I've learned those lessons.
Sometimes it just doesn't do what it should though. Without me touching it at all, it gets to a wrong position and marks everything below as viewed.
Maybe it's impossible to make it less finicky, in which case sorry to bother you, but despite knowing everything in that article, I'm still too afraid to enjoy Ivory on my iPad because of getting burned and losing my unread status on hundreds of posts.
@jerclarke @chris We use our apps for our Ivory account and support which is mission critical and gets so many mentions. I can open my iPad 1-2 weeks later and it will fetch thousands of mentions and then sync right to our last read spot every single time. You just have to wait and not touch the timeline until it is done syncing. Our sync has been working as it does for many, many years because it's the same system as it was in Tweetbot.
