In case it helps others, I did not receive any email. I had to go to givin.gifts and check notifications (top right bell icon). (It says this in the instructions but I glossed over it the first time.)
#FPSanta mods, If someone doesn't see the above post, I'm not sure they're going to know to do this. 
(I don't know what to suggest; just lamenting the unreliability of email, I guess.)
