So it turns out Yanis isn’t banned from Germany and it was just a lie told by the German police to stop him from speaking at the event?

@aral or maybe he wanted to make a case out of it? Because he loves to do it
@lontrachen Well if he’s lying, it would be trivial for the German police/government to refute it. There were people recording at the event with their phones so it’s also possible the exchange was caught on video and it would probably also get the two lawyers stated as witnesses disbarred if they willingly perpetuated a lie. So let’s see but I find it highly unlikely. Yanis is macho and stubborn but, in my experience, at least, I haven’t known him to lie.
@aral maybe someone said something wrong at some of the press briefings somewhere and varoufakis just got mad like he loves to do, who knows?
I heard report of this event, one Palestinian politician who is banned from political events in Germany spoke there, but I didn’t hear anything about this case with Varoufakis.
I totally agree with the criticism on the German approach to this whole thing but I can’t have sympathy for him
@lontrachen @aral idk. The meeting was definitely raided by the police based on obviously political reasoning that would need to be ambiguated after the actual goal was achieved. Why wouldn't the police lie in the process of blatantly acting under false pretenses?
