I joined Twitter in Nov. 2008 and now have 3,474 followers. That averages about 232 followers per year. I joined Post 6 months ago: 20 followers. I joined Mastodon in Feb. 2023: 8 followers. I joined Threads Wednesday night: 112 followers. In less than a week.
@patricksplace I was up to 5k followers on Twitter over three accounts since 2015. Had to bail out last week it had become unbearable. Very few engagements with followers since the new structure changed the algorithms; seeing blueticks, celebs and right wing agitators on my feed was unacceptable. Many were considering leaving. I imagine threads will be no better so although slowmo engagement on Mastodon it's worth persevering with and no pressure.
@thirdwhaletrip I like Mastodon, but growth seems the slowest here. Threads gets you more interactions because you start off with some connections from your Instagram friends if you choose to follow them. But yes, interactions on Twitter have been slowing considerably. It’s almost like they’re trying to run people away over there.
@patricksplace Nobody sees you and your posts without any hashtags.
@Stefan_S_from_H On Threads, there are no hashtags yet. Yet I get more interaction there than on Twitter.
I don’t pay for Twitter Blue, so apparently that means you don’t get seen there.
@patricksplace you really should read what @feditips is posting.

Hey there, it is possible to be visible on here, but it needs a slightly different approach to other social networks.
I've done some tips about getting your account discovered more easily at https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-get-more-followers-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse/
