Only 7 hours left on #BandcampFriday, where Bandcamp waives their cut so the artist gets that extra 15%.
I'm not saying you have to buy my song, but I'm donating all proceeds of ALL my tracks to vote.org until Nov. 5th. Voting rights are under attack in the United States of America, and this is a tiny way that I, as a small-time creative person, can help out. And so can you.
This song in particular is about wanting justice to be done.
The song invokes Artemis/Diana/Selene, the goddess of the hunt, personified as the moon. She is the protector of nature, of children, especially young girls, virgins, childbirth, wild animals, and vegetation.
And in ancient Greco-Roman times, "virgin" was synonymous with unmarried or independent women, so it's safe to say she's here for the childless cat ladies.
Kamala Harris announced her 2024 campaign for president on July 21st, when there was a full moon.
The first day of the Democratic National Convention was held on August 19th--another full moon, and also a Supermoon Blue Moon.
What's the significance of that? Well, not a whole lot, unless you really believe in astrology, which I don't. I think it's fun and interesting, but I wouldn't make life decisions around it.
But I wrote When You See The Moon back in 2021, aimed at a certain traitorous con man who had yet to receive justice, and I did take note of the full moon happening on the same day Kamala announced her campaign.
A few days later, I pulled the song out and decided it might be worth releasing it early.
It was a lot more work than I anticipated. Could I even release it in time?
And then on the 1st night of the DNC, a Super Blue Moon, Hilary Clinton opened her speech saying
"There's a lot of energy in this room, just like there is across the country. Something is happening in America, you can feel it. Something we've worked for and dreamed of for a long time."
And I knew I had to release it early. It was time. I could feel it in the air.
Whew, I just barely purchased my #BandcampFriday selections under the wire, with 47 seconds left to spare.
Sorry if I missed some new releases by some artists on here. I took a nap and ate some food and spaced out, so I didn't leave myself time to buy music AND be ur Fedi Hype Man for the day.
Sorry about that, y'all.
I hope everyone had a good #Bandcamp Friday! I am going to sleep again. I've been operating on about 3 1/2 hours of sleep, and my face hurts.
