To those who were never #TikTok ers. This is why I/we were.
I am a librarian who works in Hazleton PA, yes, the Hazleton PA that made it in the news on election night because we were being watched very closely. You see the city I work in is 65% Spanish speaking in their home, in a county that is as purple as it gets. So we were going to turn the county one way or the other and well, we all know how that went. Rest in comments.
I work in a field that is likely to be attacked very soon, and the people I serve are likely to be deported, yes I know they voted against themselves.
I live two towns over in a very very red town, two homes fly confederate flags. So I used TikTok as a way to feel community. I got that in droves. I was valided when I started feeling crazy when I started menopause. I LOVED getting and giving book recommendations. I got very important, unfiltered news immediately. More to come...
We rallied soooooo hard together for Kamala, we felt like family.
Then the less serious like the guy who opened Gashapon on Ambian or the woman who made octopus weed jars, or bones or no bones day, or Brittany and Johnny who "worked" from home and we got to witness their amazing friendship. It wasn't trivial to us...and I as silly as it seems to the people who are never #TikTok ers we are in mourning.
