my Dad never did any yard care/maintenance. Couldn't tell the difference btwn buckthorn, birch and bee balm.
my landscaping estimate for shoreline restoration & erosion prevention= $90k+ Seems rather high for the minimal amount we want done.
Awaiting estimate from tree removal/pruning company.

This is the time to do it. Get a heavy duty weed Wacker, put on the circular saw blade, and cut them down, then use a backpack sprayer with Roundup on the fresh stumps so they don't shoot. In this case, only chemicals will get the job done. Otherwise, you can cut them down like above, and cover with a black tarp and wait for a long time.
@MissPark. Logs are used in Minnesota DNR literature for erosion control.
@MissPark. Some Bobcat equipment dealers rent tracked mini excavators. An example is the E35 model. Some sites are safer than others for operating equipment. Contractors charge so much that renting equipment can be a viable option for some projects.
