I dunno what to tell you folks right?
Even if I concede that the problem is FASCISM, not CAPITALISM, the capitalism is what empowers the fascists and connects them all together even across faux "ideological" lines.
For profit media is an unreliable narrator precisely because they are OWNED by rich capitalists, and rich capitalists have clearly decided that burning the world/killing billions is better than ending the capitalism killing us and the way they accomplish that IS fascism.
@AnarchoNinaWrites
if the capitalists talk about liberal equal rights and happy sunshine rainbows while murdering all life on the planet, or if they talk about supremacy and tradition and fatherland, either way all life on the planet gets murdered and capital is the motive. convenient for them that liberals think the threat is fascism and fascists think the threat is liberalism, no?
@redrozalia Yes.
Furthermore given that capitalism doesn't CREATE wealth, merely loots at bayonet point, I agree with the left's larger argument that there is no difference on a long enough timeline. The power hierarchies necessary to support neoliberalism and extraction even as it kills billions are identical to those that facilitate fascism.
Alas I live in a society where nobody is gonna listen when I say "fascism is a tool of capitalism and the latter will always produce the former"
@AnarchoNinaWrites @redrozalia do you feel it's gotten any better now that the election is over, and people no longer will just say "But Trump" as an excuse to complacently carry forward with policies just as heinous but less overtly caustic? I sometimes like to jump in with a "But Biden" nowadays when I hear folks despair about privatizing Medicare, dismantling public health, building Trump's wall, and pardoning white collar criminals - all merely extensions of the current admin, nothing new.
@RebelGeek99 I must confess that this is at least the second time something you've said to me makes me question why you think Trump being elected will change people's support for "liberal" capitalists who claim to be opposing fascism given that Trump was in fact already elected and the result was people simply pretended fascist collaborator capitalist minions were the real antifascists despite all evidence that they were not stopping anything and indeed prepared to work with nazis.
@AnarchoNinaWrites ah, well, propaganda is a helluva drug. Embarrassingly, I must admit I was a Blue MAGA in 2019-2020, driven mostly by fear and desperation, donating to all the worst shitlibs, VBNMW, la resistance, etc. Was never much for politicking after Obama '08 but fell for the propaganda, career was in science, later public health... the pandemic response under Trump was heinous, but to see Biden "finish the job" was horrifying. I know I'm not the only one he broke the illusion for.
@RebelGeek99 I do not mean to be snarky, but I just think your frame of reference is entirely different than mine. I don't think there's any fixing of the Democratic Party or voting out fascism. I don't think any of these problems are gonna be solved without ending capitalism itself. So it really doesn't matter to me what liberals think about Trump or Biden; I mean if they say stupid shit in my replies I'll tell them it's stupid. But ultimately this is about Pig Empire society, not elections.
@AnarchoNinaWrites and I am on the same page nowadays, no longer believe the party can be "fixed". They're paid losers. Their only purpose, as has been made absolutely transparent to me and many other progressive voters, is to occupy the sociopolitical space where actual opposition could exist, doing nothing or worse, like the enabling parent in an abusive alcoholic household. Thanks for your posts- some of us have started seeing the Pig Empire society too, just coming from different angles.
@RebelGeek99 *first bump*
I'm glad; I didn't want you to think I was being a bitch about it. I'm just kinda post-elections in a Pig Empire fascist oligarchy.
@AnarchoNinaWrites lol nah we're good
