I like The Dragon Prince. So far we have a deaf female general (uses sign language and others do, too), a blind male pirate (?) captain and gay elves (two husbands fostering the main girl elf assassin).

Comics and graphic novels are great!
Some parents don't like giving their children comic books. One of my children didn't like reading until I gave him comic books, later on, he chose to move on to reading lengthy classic novels in literature.
After that I used to tell parents, comic books are the gateway to improved literacy skills
