I remember when Unity came out in #Ubuntu a lot of people criticized the sidebar-as-launcher in the left of the screen.
(maybe folks were mad at Unity and not the sidebar)
Today I use a wide screen monitor and enabled a somewhat successful sidebar-as-launcher in my #Fedora #KDE desktop. I am kind of liking it very much.
@SoulFlux This setup especially makes sense on #ultrawide monitors, although I’ve found that I needed to duplicate the toolbar on both ends of a 21:9 monitor! 
@daniel I agree. The corners should be much further away in the 21:9 ratio. On my monitor I already feel this a bit (16:9).
