The Department of Homeland Security has closed a key office, as Donald Trump faces growing backlash over his deportations.
@SteveThompson Faces backlash? He could care less. He’s KING, and nothing can stop him.
Media today is milquetoast.
@SteveThompson Everyone is falling in line. Sickening that no one can stop him.
@SteveThompson @Doreen32128 and the difference between the media and people here not taking to the streets en masse is?
@Tenor2JT @SteveThompson Protesters were out today in many places in Florida. April 5 is the next countrywide protest. All the state Capitols. I don’t live near Tallahassee, so I will protest with a local group.
He's blocked here.
@SteveThompson Doesn't Homeland Security Realize the enemy they need to remove?
@SteveThompson DHS never gave a shit about civil rights anyway, good they stop pretending. First step in closing the whole department. Never should have been created.
It's the symbolism that counts here. DHS is ramping up, despite recent cuts. It's on steroids with Kristi Noem at the helm. And it won't be strong enough to keep Russia out when the time comes.
@SteveThompson from it's very creation, DHS has been about protecting the government from its own citizens. DHS is not equipped or prepared to secure this country against a foreign threat because it's never been a substantial part of its mission.
@SteveThompson to be clear. The Venezuelans who were removed from the US were not deported. Deportation had a process. This was closer to illegal rendition we saw during the Iraq war.
